Exercise to Prevent Breast Cancer

Exercise to Prevent Breast Cancer - Most women would be willing at all to do something about breast cancer in the, at times a disfiguring and potentially fatal disease to be avoided.

One way to significantly reduce the risk of breast cancer is as close as the sneakers in your closet.

Nearly 30 studies have shown that even women who contracts to a level of moderate to severe exercise for three hours or more per week, you risk falling ill with breast cancer by 30 percent to 40 percent.

This risk reduction is made about as much of the drug tamoxifen is available, but without the side effects.

The American Cancer Society and the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer has recently developed guidelines for cancer prevention with emphasis on physical activity, weight control and nutrition.

Both conclude that convincing evidence is exercise with a reduced risk of breast cancer, and both recommend that women with moderate to severe, there was at least 30 minutes per day, preferably more for maximum performance.

Hormones are the link

Scientists believe that the connection between hormones and breast cancer protection movement. Exercise reduces the factors causing the estrogen, testosterone, insulin and growth, breast cancer, either in whole or they grow faster and to promote greater. Women at high hormone levels in the blood have a high risk of developing breast cancer.

May present study recently at the American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting in San Francisco presents a little more light. Dr. Celia Byrne and colleagues (Harvard University) examined the relationship between C-peptide, a marker of insulin production, and the risk of breast cancer in the Nurses' Health Study, which affects more than 32 000 women.

They measured C-peptide in the blood of 463 women who developed breast cancer and compared them with blood C-peptide levels in a sample of women without disease.

They found that those who were falling ill with the highest C-peptide levels, a statistically significant chance of 70 percent higher chance of developing breast cancer compared with women who had the lowest level.

In the same study, they found that C-peptide levels were higher in overweight and obese women and women with low levels who were physically active. Other studies have shown that insulin levels drop right after training, so that the positive effect immediately.

Just 30 minutes a day

To reduce the risk of breast cancer, women should in aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes per day, preferably more involved. Walking is an excellent aerobic activity and can be easily performed by most women.

The small things count - in the hallway, talking with a colleague, rather than by mail, walk or bike to work, and physically active vacation with the family, with stairs instead of elevators.

Those who are already active, you can increase your profits by exercising more - as long as they do not overdo it. A good rule is to increase the time for the exercise of not more than 10 percent per week was required.

Those who should start on an intensive training program (such as preparing for a marathon), to ensure that they get enough rest even one day of training per week.

Many of the benefits of exercise in the prevention of breast cancer may also women must have had breast cancer.

Overweight and obese women with breast cancer have poorer survival rates than women light. Physical activity may be an important part of the recovery process for breast cancer.

Dr. McTiernan, an internist and epidemiologist, is a member of the Program for Research on Cancer Prevention, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. It is also the author of Breast Fitness: A Plan of exercise and optimal health in order to reduce the risk of breast cancer (St. Martin's Press, 2001).

A Fetal MRI scan is the process of scanning the fetus movements using the fast sequential method. Each sequence produces image slices of the area of interest. It is a non-invasive type testing that provides detailed information.
