Reaffirming Our Commitment to Figh-Prevent Breast Cancer

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - a time to those who develop breast cancer in their lives, those who are struggling now, and with those who remember celebrating survived lost. There is also a time to fight our commitment to breast cancer and to remember reaffirm the importance of prevention and early detection.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I had the privilege of Jennifer Aniston, who recently join explore an original film with a new life, a family of breast cancer, Dr. Jill Biden and a small group of survivors of the affected breast, suppliers and other lessons learned from those who have been treated for breast cancer to learn, discuss. We also talked about how important it is to coordinate health care, so that we can do more to treat and prevent breast cancer.

Breast cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancer in American women, despite significant advances in the treatment and prevention remains the second leading cause of cancer death.

Regular mammography screening, breast cancer, that certainly does not take life more women. The chances for successful treatment is greatest when breast cancer is diagnosed early. However, had only about 67 percent of women aged 40 or older have a mammogram in the past two years. If 90 percent of women 40 years, the early detection of breast cancer in old age would be 3700 people lives are saved annually. But in a time of tight budgets, the cost - to discourage many patients receive these important checkups - even modest co-payments.

Thanks to the law of Health Reform Act, care they can afford, and most private health insurance Medicare now covers health care for women - such as mammograms and screening for cervical cancer, with no co-pays or other out of pocket costs. This means that they need to identify women of services or products to prevent breast cancer before it is disseminated or fatal without worrying about who paid for access services out of pocket. This year to date, 3.8 million women in the traditional Medicare receive a free mammogram.

In addition to regular mammography screening, there are steps to take women to their risk of cancer of brea st can reduce. Women should discuss with their doctor about their personal risk of breast cancer when combined with mammograms and how often they have begun. If they assumed that they are at increased risk for breast cancer because of genetic or medical history should be compatible with your doctor to decide which are the best options to speak in order to reduce the risk of breast cancer. With the publication of new guidelines for women and women of preventive services is available to visit, so that women can discuss their needs with their health care providers in medically-at no additional cost.

Women also have new rights and protections against abusive insurance company under the Affordable Care Act. If a diagnosis of breast cancer or another disease, women are now by a cover, which were taken from them when they are ill protected, and if they need coverage the most.

The health reform law is to women who are or gone through the expensive help treat breast cancer. Today, insurance companies can not impose lifetime limits of coverage. And in most health plans will be limited each year. This means that it is your health insurance covers only the treatment with you until you need it.

Since 2014 it is illegal to differentiate for insurance against anyone with a pre-existing condition. In the past, insurers to deny coverage because of pre-existing conditions such as breast cancer for women, and if the coverage is reached, the life insurance and annual limits of what companies give benefits.

These changes are real differences in the lives of women and American families. Prevention, along with further research will save more lives and improve the quality of life for all of us who are affected by breast cancer.
