In recognition of Awareness Month Breast Cancer, I was privileged to join the actress Jennifer Aniston, who recently directed a new film explores a life of breast cancer family home, Dr. Jill Biden, and a small group of women with breast cancer, suppliers and others concerned to learn from those who were treated for breast cancer has learned to speak. We also talked about how important it is to coordinate health care, we can do more to treat and prevent breast cancer.

Breast cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed cancer among American women, and despite considerable advances in the treatment and prevention remains the second leading cause of cancer death.

Contribute to regular screening mammography that breast cancer does not take the lives of more women. The chances of successful treatment is higher when breast cancer is diagnosed early. However, only about 67 percent of women aged 40 or older had a mammogram in the last two years. If 90 percent of women aged 40 to get the breast cancer screening, 3700 lives would be saved each year. But at a time of tight budgets, the cost - even a modest ticket - many patients continue to receive these important screenings.

With Bill of Health Reform Act, affordable care, including coverage of private health insurance and Medicare health care, now women - such as mammograms and screening for early detection of cancer the neck without co-payments or other out of pocket costs. This means they need to recognize the achievements of women, or to prevent breast cancer before they are distributed or received fatal without worrying about having to pay for these services out of pocket. This year to date has received 3.8 million women were in traditional Medicare mammography access.

In addition to regular screening mammography, is the adoption of measures that women can reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Women should discuss with their doctor about their personal risk of breast cancer if you start having mammograms and how often. If you find that the increased risk of breast cancer due to medical history or genetic, must speak with your doctor to decide what the best options to reduce their risk of breast cancer. With the publication of guidelines for the prevention services of the new woman is a woman well-tour is available, the capacity of women, their health needs with health care providers in the discussion, at no additional cost.

Women also have new rights and protections against abusive insurance company under the Affordable Care Act. If a diagnosis of breast cancer or another disease, was the wife are now on their coverage when they get sick and when they need to cover much more safer.

The law of health reform also helps women who pass by, or expensive treatments for breast cancer later. Today, insurance companies can not impose life limits of coverage. And in most health plans, the annual limit will be limited. This means that your health insurance is there with you, for the treatment, until you need it.

From 2014, it is illegal to make a difference for insurance against anyone with a pre-existing condition. In the past, insurers to deny coverage for women due to diseases like breast cancer, and if the coverage was achieved, life insurance and set annual limits on what the company would pass on services.

These changes are real differences in the lives of women and American families. Prevention, with further research will save more lives and improve the quality of life for all of us affected by breast cancer.
